Having recently visited Venezuela, I think @jorgeramosnews’ analogue is insane. Pinochet was a mass murderer who rounded up & executed dissidents. I attended a large opposition rally where Maduro foes called for his ouster & called him a “motherfucker.” Police were barely visible
Those who label Maduro a dictator insult victims of real dictatorships & the millions of Venezuelans who support Maduro & the Chavista movement. And that’s what this is about: elite contempt for low-income & darker-skinned Venezuelans who dare support leaders elites don’t like.
.@jorgeramosnews is promoting the overthrow of a leader who has the support of millions & whose Chavismo movement has won 23 of 25 elections going back two decades. That’s the mindset of the same people he claims to decry: dictators.
