Thesis:
In many of Donald Trump’s actions, such as alienating allies, withdrawing from arrangements such as the Paris Agreement, and meeting in secret with autocrats, he has been under the influence of hypnotic suggestion.

I am not a mental-health professional and cannot claim this Thesis as a result of expertise. As you will see, I know just enough to have a reasonable suspicion. So I have to broadcast this in the hope that it will get into the hands of people who are able to evaluate it.

2. My wife is a Licensed Mental Health Counselor. I have no part in her clinical practice, except that I prepare her insurance claims.

4. Together we took a continuing-education course in hypnotherapy from Robert Burnham, Ph.D. Dr. Burnham studied with Milton H. Erickson[1]. We used a book by Ernest Rossi[2]. It was in that course that I learned that trance is not voodoo but is part of everyday life.

The Argument
1. “The Manchurian Candidate” is a cold-war “political thriller about the son of a prominent U.S. political family who is brainwashed into being an unwitting assassin for a Communist conspiracy.”[3]
2. The novel is not credible in two ways:

a. The extraordinary suggestions given to the subject (murder) would not normally be followed by a healthy subject. This objection isn’t applicable here, though, since the actions in the Thesis are consistent with Donald Trump’s personality.

b. “Brainwashing” is not a term of art in modern hypnotherapy, and for good reason. The brainwashing of the book was intense and occurred in captivity. That is not what contemporary hypnosis is, and that’s the crucial point here.

3. Trance is a continuum and is part of consciousness. And trance inductions can begin in the middle of normal everyday activity. Read about Erickson’s “handshake induction”[4], which can occur in seconds.

4. In the hands of an experienced clinician who understands the client, induction can occur repeatedly, on demand, and in seconds.

5. Here is where I need expert help. I believe that Donald Trump, especially because of his unusual personality (I have written about this[5]), would be particularly vulnerable in the hands of a purposeful trance-induction expert.

There have been many opportunities for Donald Trump to be at the mercy of an expert psyops operative. On how many occasions has he been unaided in a room with a Russian psyops expert? In Russia? In Helsinki? On how many other occasions? Is anyone keeping track?

Summary:
The usual explanation offered for Donald Trump’s strange actions is kompromat and the threat of blackmail. That might be true. But another, totally separate, explanation is offered here: hypnotic suggestion as part of a larger Russian psyops program.
