/ The indispensable @Tweetermeyer links to an MIT study forecasting the per mile cost of operating a robo taxi fleet (Musk's new $TSLA business model) with the per mile cost of conventional driven vehicles. Bottom line: Musk is simply full of it:
/ The link to Niedermeyer's piece is here; it has the link to the MIT study: thedrive.com/tech/27854/mit…
/ Elon loved it when a $TSLA cultist loosely affiliated with MIT recently published a garbage "study" purporting to show the possibilities of Tesla's approach to autonomous driving...
/ ... Who thinks Musk will retweet Ed Niedermeyer's article about this far more rigorous study by researchers much more closely affiliated with MIT?
/ Read the whole article, and take a look at the MIT study. You'll see the MIT researchers assumed an unrealistically low cost of only $15,000 for the car itself.
/ Niedermeyer sees a future for robo taxis. But, decidedly, a rather distant future. "Much debate about the economics of robotaxis still lies ahead of us, but this work shows that the conversation is getting more specific and grounded in reality."
/ I should have added, the robo taxi future @Tweetermeyer sees is grounded in economic reality, not pumpalicious fantasy. $TSLAQ
