But wait...this article totally ignores Kamala. I don't understand the notion of "don't ignore Black women voters, but it's totally ok to ignore the Black woman running". Let me correct a few things that erase/ignore Kamala's policy proposals (Thread)
"The only candidate addressing Black maternal health with policy positions is Elizabeth Warren." FALSE!!! Kamala introduced the Maternal Care Act in 2018, the 1st Senate bill EVER to specifically address Black maternal health. Receipts in this thread:
"The only candidates, aside from Warren, with a clear articulated stance on gun violence and national licensing are Andrew Yang and Cory Booker". FALSE!!! Kamala has laid out a detailed gun violence plan (1 of the few things to get wide media coverage).
I have been planning to do an extensive thread on Kamala's policies included her in Black agenda...but this is a good proposal Kamala has put forth to increase diversity in STEM.
Kamala has also taken her message to more HBCUs than any other candidate in the race. She has also spoken at more Black conventions, galas, events than any other candidate.
But wait...Kamala doesn't just talk to HBCUs, she has consistently secured additional funding for them. She has done the WORK and has made HBCUs a critical part of her Black agenda.
Kamala has done interviews with many Black outlets. The Grio, The Root, Make It Plain with Mark Thompson, The Tom Joyner Radio Show, and The Breakfast Club are the ones I can think of off the top of my head. So she takes her message directly to Black audiences.
Also notable, Kamala has BW/BM in KEY roles (to name a few): @mayaharris_,Missayr Boker co-natl pol dir @J_WashingtonSC dep natl pol dir @LaphonzaB sr adviser @knicole_a dep natl press sec @meaghanblynch natl press sec @Reggie_Abraham dep SC dir,@AnatoleJenkins dep natl field dir
I'm 1000% FOR emphasizing the important role BW play as voters in the Democratic Party. We should be willing to pay attention to the distinguished Black woman (KAMALA) in this race who has a message for US! If you dont like what she is saying, fine, but don't erase her presence.
In fairness to @BariAWilliams she has asked for the article to be updated with footnotes to specify the "only candidate" refers to policies detailed on their website. What have I been saying about updating Kamala's website with her MANY impressive policies?
Also adding this response in fairness. To be clear, my intent was never to bash @BariAWilliams, it was to amplify the policies that were attributed as solely to other candidates. Y'all know how I am when I it comes to Kamala...ready set go!🏃🏾‍♀️🏃🏾‍♀️
