Several years ago I had this dream where I was in some sort of alternate universe that was collapsing, and I had this really vivid image of a close friend evaporating away, saying “remember us”, and I promised I would. I still think about it often
I think to me it’s a metaphor for the special world, the world beyond the ordinary world. It’s a metaphor for childhood, for play, for exploration, for creativity

And right now, I feel like my memory of the magical time I had in SF is beginning to fade. The dream is collapsing
I think I’m feeling anxious because I’m physically tired and I’m worried I will forget. I have a lot of review & reflection to do to integrate everything I learned from the special world into my ordinary life. I have some cues & totems but it’s not enough
I’m planning to get my first tattoo to commemorate and celebrate that moment. I’ve wanted tattoos for over a decade but could never find anything meaningful enough, anything powerful enough to pull me back into the special world
But thinking on it more, I have no reason to be anxious. I took lots of notes. I’m in touch with lots of friends. I do have a working memory, even if it’s imperfect. And I have been fundamentally changed by my experience. I just need to drink some coffee, shower & get to writing
