HOWARD STERN has a new book coming out and he's on a press junket. I need a MASSIVE GROUNDSWELL of grassroots support to demand that HOWARD do my podcast, because I'm the only person who can properly interview him!
Howard says Trump called him to ask for his endorsement, and even asked him to speak at the GOP convention! He said no to both. (Recall, Trump ended up mentioning Howard at one of the debates). He tried to get Hillary on the show because he wanted to humanize her, but she refused
I have to say, I really am an expert on the philosophy, political and otherwise, of Howard Stern. If you knew the amount of Howard Stern content I have consumed over the years, you would be staggered and I would be embarrassed. Nonetheless, it has made me a leading expert on him
If the podcast doesn't work out, I will have to settle for Jackie the Joke Man. @JackieMartling

James Baker, the former FBI official currently on a media tour, gets very offended when anyone suggests that he was part of an attempted "coup." Of course that's not how these people would characterize their actions. But in totality, what they did 100% amounted to a "soft coup"
If the most powerful law enforcement and intelligence officials in the country get together to surveil and entrap members of a campaign because they believe the candidate poses a National Security Threat, that can be reasonably described as a "soft coup"
Later, of course, the top person in the Justice Department and the top person in the FBI got together to plot extra-legal presidential removal schemes, such as "wearing a wire" and recruiting cabinet members to invoke the 25th Amendment on spurious grounds

The Young Turks did a really dumb segment suggesting that CNN had maliciously skewed a poll to downplay Bernie and boost Biden. This led to Nate Silver rightfully skewering them. As a past target of Nate’s sassy trolling, it pains me to say this, but I stand with Nate
Nate is mostly reliable when he’s talking about the pure mechanics of polling, models, and related methodological stuff. He gets dumb when he’s just opining pundit-style on random stuff
Objecting to how media frames or emphasizes polling is perfectly fair: i've done it many times, and will continue to do so. But making specious claims about the methodology because it doesn't produce the outcome you want is just stupid. Motivated reasoning in action

If you aren't a frequent visitor to DevOps Twitter, you may not be aware that @nicolefv is a badass researcher with a new book coming out that people frequently credit her male collaborators with instead
The book is called Accelerate and, as you can see, Dr Forsgren's name is first, because she is the main author. Yet I have watched multiple people (men) repeatedly skip over her name when praising the book.

Two days later, everyone is sick of the @michelleisawolf #WHCD takes. So I thought I'd drive right into the abyss, go long, and look at how the routine is structured. I've been a fan for a long time; that will be obvious. This will take 3 days.
I want to highlight 3 things: voice, pacing, contempt. Even this insanely long thread doesn't get at everything going on in the routine—the eye work is great—but if this was the last #WHCD, the even deserves an epic sendoff, S/Z style.
1. The first remark draws attention to the room, and immediately conveys her sense that the event is BAD. It's in what I'll call normal voice—the voice she uses to seemingly step out of the performance. That voice speaks in monosyllables and simple syntax.

Okay, so I need to talk to you about something. Something I committed to being more open about a few years back. Living with anxiety. This is the ‘launching a book whilst having an anxiety disorder’ thread.
So the last couple of weeks I have barely been on Twitter, just popping in occasionally to RT a nice mention or two, or reply to people. This isn’t the way I like to use Twitter. I wasn’t being very social.
As today approached, I was aware of an increasing pressure building: I should be online more. I should be more social. I have a book coming out soon! No-one will know about it! Work harder! Promote! And of course the subtext here was: You are failing.
