Glad to see my House colleagues reintroduced the Pregnant Workers Fairness Act today. I am looking forward to working with them on this in the Senate.
The #PregnantWorkersFairnessAct would protect pregnant workers from workplace discrimination and ensure that they are treated fairly on the job.
Women should not live in fear of losing their jobs or being forced on leave because they are pregnant and this legislation will ensure women are offered real protection in the fight against pregnancy discrimination.

This seizure is further evidence that a border wall will not stop drugs from “pouring into the country” as the President has claimed, and points to the vulnerability they have created by reassigning @CBP officers from already understaffed Ports to the southern border.
I hope the President will stop playing political games, get serious about stopping illegal drug trafficking and start working to address the real threats of illicit smuggling at our Ports of Entry.

The theory is Albert Einstein's general relativity, presented in 1915. Why an eclipse, though? Within general relativity, we understand gravity as the way objects that have mass interact with their environment, aka spacetime. Which by the way isn't flat but curved & flexible. Ha!
Massive objects bend spacetime, and with it the paths of everything that moves in it. Including light particles (which by the way have no mass). To test this, you need a massive object in the foreground and sources of light in the background. Like the Sun and the stars, right?

25 states have passed bipartisan laws like #PWFA, but current federal law fails to protect pregnant workers. A study by @ABetterBalance found that in 2/3 of cases, courts held that employers could deny pregnant women simple accommodations in the workplace. abetterbalance.org/long-overdue/
The #PregnantWorkersFairnessAct is simple, it guarantees pregnant workers can get the accommodations they need to stay on the job. Employers and women know just what to expect.

Earlier women’s activism in the workforce tended to focus on protecting women on the job, often granting them special rights that would protect them as mothers.
The Consumers’ Bureau led by Florence Kelley was central to this strategy, which played a critical role in Muller v. Oregon that carved out an exemption from the predominant idea of employees entering into a voluntary contract with employers and thus deserved no protections.
