On abortion: 48% of Americans identity as pro-life, 48% identify as pro-choice.

Overwhelming majority want abortion legal in 1st trimester (w/ exceptions) and want it illegal beyond that (w/ exceptions).

That is nowhere near our current legal abortion regime.
Some people, especially Dem politicians, argue they are personally pro-life, but don't want to impose on others. That is not a logical or morally defensible position. If you believe it's a life, clearly wrong to support allowing that life to be taken.
A bigger reason for disconnect is that people have different views on when life begins. A lot of people don't view a fetus as alive until after 1st trimester (thus radical shift in views on legality after)

That is the debate we should have and how laws should be determined.
That's also why the most reasonable approach to legislation is an incremental path that limits abortions during periods when everyone agrees it is a life.

The current national Dem political position of no legal restrictions, even when baby is viable, is morally indefensible
