This either/or is a false dichotomy.
Everyone knows rights are not like this. You have a right to free speech, but not to use speech to make threats. You have a right to free exercise of religion, but not to engage in human sacrifice. You have a right liberty, but can be jailed.

The most obvious cases where one’s rights STOP are where they would infringe on the rights of ANOTHER.
A woman absolutely has the right to decide when she will become a mother—up until the point where this would involve killing someone.

When people say things like this I hear
“You are denying my right to lynch n***ers, so you are saying I’m nothing but a slave. I find that morally repugnant.”

No one can rationally deny that human fetuses are human beings, biologically. That is the kind of organism they are, and we all were, once.
So you have to deny that, although they are human beings, they are not PERSONS.

That’s a dangerous move, to say “some human beings aren’t persons, and so do not have rights, and may be killed with impunity, etc.”
