Minor bits of Twitter etiquette. Not even Twitter really, just basic tips for being a decent human.
If you've been mates with someone on here for a while, and you disagree with them about something, don't quote tweet them with some outraged comment. @ them and have a conversation about it.
Ideally be sympathetic and specific, not snide or aggressive.
One of the nastiest things about this place is not the screaming dimwits. It's when someone you admired is theatrical about their disagreement rather than paying you the courtesy of simply discussing it.
When someone has written something you find objectionable, check what's going on in their feed before you jump in to point it out.
Twitter isn't just a bespoke information feed. It's a bespoke experience. Your point may be valid, but when the person's been at the bottom of a pile-on for three days, they're not likely to take it that way.
Certainly do this if you're mates. But even if they're a political opponent, have a think. Jumping on top of a pile-on corrodes the soul. It's the worst of us.
Also just generally don't be a cunt.
