I don’t know if this will work but I would like to express my thanks to the security guard who protected me and my friends last night from a man who was harassing us in Derby near the taxi rank. When he stood in to protect us, the man seriously attacked the guard for stepping up.
If he ever gets to read this, I just want him to know that we were all worried about you and we were all extremely grateful for doing what you did to stop him from harassing us when we had told him to leave us alone. I’m sorry you didn’t get the support you needed last night.
And I know you said it happens all the time but it’s important that men step in and tell other men when they are being inappropriate, harassing or violent. You did the right thing and I hope you keep doing that when women are in need.
I hope you’re okay this morning and didn’t end up with injuries from the attack which looked terrifying. I know the police stepped in and I hope they took that seriously. I can’t believe how angry the man got just because you told him to leave us alone. You did the right thing.
I was impressed how quickly you noticed his behaviour and the way he was harassing us. You stepped in without hesitation and I heard you clearly explaining to him that he was being intimidating and harassing to us. Thank you for challenging what is a common experience for women
