Last night, we saw @hadestown. Not only one of the best musicals I've ever seen, but a contender to be my personal all-time favorite. Extraordinary in every way--staging, music, lyrics, performances, the entire production. Moving, thrilling & relevant in important ways.
It channels Brecht & Weill & the ancient Greeks in the very best but still edgily, movingly contemporary and creative ways. And it also offers a scathing commentary not only on our dark political situation of the moment, but on our rigged and broken economy. Inspiring.
While the cast is great and deserves all the accolades they've achieved, the real stars are @anaismitchell and @rachelchavkin whose work is head and shoulders above almost anything else of its kind I have seen in memory.
@reevecarney Andre DeShields Amber Gray @EvaNoblezada @pagepatrick and the entire company were outstanding and each essential to the success in their own individual ways. This is one to see and savor. Feel very fortunate that we were able to see it last night.
