Stunning visualization.

In raw numbers the "Gen X and younger" generations just absolutely leapfrogged over "Boomer and older."

An overall increase of 25.5 million votes from 2014. 86% (21.9m) of the increase came from Gen-X-and-younger.

Some doubt has been cast on the quality of this turnout data, but remains very interesting to me, the parallels to the EU Ref "waking up" younger voters and what we've seen post-Trump.

The US and the UK have also seen some parallel age polarization, beyond the turnout dynamic.

In addition to Millennials nearly doubling their turnout rates in 2018, post-Millennials in their 1st midterm voted at a rate (30%) equal to Gen X in their 4th.

Crenshaw implies a fellow representative, a Muslim giving a speech about coping with the discrimination faced by Muslims after 9/11, is herself an apologist for terrorists while pushing a message that CAIR is "a terrorist organization." He gets blowback and it's "whoa there,..."
Really the cruelest irony that the point Rep. Omar was making was about empowering Muslims to stand proud in the face of casual discrimination and stereotyping, especially in light of the Trump's rhetoric and the mass murder in New Zealand.
From the same speech - "He (Trump) knows that there are people that he can influence to threaten our lives to diminish our presence.

But what we know, and what Islam teaches us, and what I always say, is that love Trump's hate."

The latest Navigator Research poll (national RVs) breaks up the population by partisanship and Fox News viewership and some of it is just jaw dropping. Like not surprising but wow. navigatorresearch.org/wp-content/upl…
I realize that was a bit of an oxymoron.
What's most fascinating to me is differences b/w REPUBLICANS who watch Fox regularly few times a month or more) vs those who don't. Splits 50-50.

For ex "Non-Fox News GOP" are more than 2x as likely to believe in man-made climate change, to take something topical. 28%...vs 12%

Second: The actual experts do not agree with you, and your fear-mongering is likely causing more harm than good.

Probably not great for Biden, but there could also be some generational divides.

I'd expect Beto to do well among relatively moderate members of Congress in swing/suburban districts first elected in the past couple of cycles. And Biden to do well among the old guard.
More generally, I think people probably do don't enough about the age/generational divisions within the Democratic party, which are often sharper than other sorts of divisions.

Among the *white* part of the Democratic electorate, you could wind up w/something like this.
There are also huge generational divides among black and Hispanic Democrats, probably even sharper than among white ones.

But this explains why the Beto & Bernie people clash a lot. Not similar ideologically, but both are hoping for the support of Gen X & younger Dems.

1) FL absentees, early voting:

*Dems as expected ("souls to the polls Sunday") had a good day and FINALLY take the early walk-in vote lead by 6,100 votes.

Rs total: 1,151,593
Ds total: 1,092,547

Rs +59,046 combined lead. This is very good for this point in the campaign.
2) At this point in 2016, Rs only led by 40,000. I could be mistaken but I think yesterday was the last day polls were open on Sunday, so the final "souls to the polls" Sunday.

3) As of yesterday, four red counties were yet to report. That would likely boost the lead back to 70k
4) I don't think the FL Rs in their wildest dreams expected to lead this late in the campaign.

5) Likewise in NV:
Clark (with its union "encouragement" for members turned out big yesterday and added net 6,000 voters.

However---big however---neither Washoe nor the rurals . . .

gen x has gotten beaten up for most of its existence then ignored. millenials are a running punchline. and yet the boomers seem the least able to take even a good-natured punch, despite dominating so much of our world forever. hm.
maybe if y'all had a corporate anthem like generation x did you'd be handling this better :P
