Yall, the men on these dating apps are awful. They consistently seem to think that messaging a few times means I owe them something & that just because we matched based on images & limited info, I should meet them. They appear to think they can debate me into dating them.
It seems very obvious to me that someone who can’t respect my “I don’t want to meet you for X reason, good luck finding someone” will definitively not respect my boundaries and no in person so why in Beyoncé’s name would I agree to meet you? This is the dumbest fucking tactic.
Are women falling for this? YOU DON’T OWE THIS STRANGER SHIT. Do not allow men to pressure, bully or coerce you into half-heartedly “giving them a chance.” Fuck that. No dick is worth the hassle or the potential harm.
These dating app dudes don’t know who they’re messing with. Each person who sends an unsolicited dick pic or who doesn’t take no for an answer is getting a high grade feminist rant/lesson sent their way.
So in case anyone was wondering, this this far 1 month attempt at online dating is 100% not going well. I don’t know how @nicolebyer does it.

I want my university to be a fully accepting, safe place for LBGTQ+ students, faculty, staff & alumni. I know that many trans & non-binary folks are still marginalized & oppressed in classes, student orgs & social spaces on campus. We still have much work to do.
Every member of the UW-Madison community needs to learn about pronoun usage, gender neutral restrooms and gender & sexuality inclusive language. We need partner benefits back outside of marriage. Let’s push beyond a pretty terrace picture for a better future for LBGTQ+ Badgers.
Shoutout to @UWGSCC & @UW_GndrWomenSt for their amazing work to continually improve the gender & sexuality climate here!

This #PrideMonth please remember that if your Pride event isn’t accessible, affordable, & inviting to trans people, non-binary folks & people of color then it’s not for the entire LBGTQIA community.
This means wheelchair accessibility. This means ASL interpreters. This means NO COPS. This means gender neutral restrooms. This means hosts who don’t make racist, sexist, ableist, transphobic, fatphobic or classist jokes.
Vet your venue. Vet your people. Make Pride great for all of us. Except straight people. Pride isn’t for straight people. (I mean, you can come I guess, but I’m not interested in making Pride comfortable for heteros. Don’t @ me on this)

The reason in my last video I specifically said 'the web' and defined it in contrast to the internet was because my arguments don't really apply to the internet writ large, because the resources of the internet ITSELF have never been held in common.
Frustratingly, not only are some people trying to act like I was talking about the entire internet and its incumbent infrastructure, but also that I was talking about all software ever.
Also a lot of people are taking me to task for not addressing that software can monetize themselves without directly charging users and like... I did? Several times?

So. The beginning .. or middle. Depending on how you look at it. On the 16th January 2014 I left Rotherham ... with nothing more than a rucksack. I left behind a business, friends, pets, a house ..... a life. And to be fair it was time to leave it for various reasons.
Along with good stuff I left a lot of bad too. In what turned out to be a bit of a miracle my (not the first and no doubt the last) two months of homelessness were relatively uneventful. Having a job and no kids means no refuge - but between the councils, police & charity I went
Between hotels, hostels, a place which is affectionately dubbed “the crack den” and finally got a house on the 15th March 2014. A door that I could lock ..where no one else had a key -that I could build a new life from. Nobody knew me. I knew nobody & in many ways that was good.

I keep thinking back to a discussion a few months on reddit about THE BELGARIAD. Several comments were made about it being cliche and pedestrian, and someone said, “Yeah, it’s a fine story, but it’s never going to be a classic.”
And all I could think to respond was, “It’s over thirty years later and we’re still talking about it. How is that NOT ‘a classic’?
But that got me thinking- I cite THE BELGARIAD (and THE MALLOREON, its sequel series) as one of my influential works. But what is that influence? I know I’ve read the whole series several times. My copies of the books are in terrible shape.
