The reason in my last video I specifically said 'the web' and defined it in contrast to the internet was because my arguments don't really apply to the internet writ large, because the resources of the internet ITSELF have never been held in common.
Frustratingly, not only are some people trying to act like I was talking about the entire internet and its incumbent infrastructure, but also that I was talking about all software ever.
Also a lot of people are taking me to task for not addressing that software can monetize themselves without directly charging users and like... I did? Several times?
By far the more baffling criticism is that internet infrastructure (which once again, the video was not about) "requires the state". This has been tossed out as a given, as though it was something I overlooked as opposed to something I obviously do not agree with.
There is a strong contingent of people who seem to think that anarchists all agree that everything works better under the state, but we're just contrarian for no reason.
So limited is the statist imagination that they cannot even conceive of why someone would disagree with them.
