@harpersnotes @akarlin88 @ramzpaul I mostly use a “Panasonic Lumix GH5“ for recording video I put on YouTube (or elsewhere).

But, you could probably get away with a “Panasonic Lumix G7”.

The G7 is much less expensive than the GH5.

@harpersnotes @akarlin88 @ramzpaul If you are OK with spending more AND you are just shooting stuff indoors, and NOT moving the camera around, then there is a new variants of the GH5 callled the GH5s that I would recommend.

I.e., the “Panasonic Lumix GH5s”

.
@harpersnotes @akarlin88 @ramzpaul You should really care about your audio too.

The room you shoot your video in (and thus also record your audio in) will have a BIG affect on the audio quality.

If your audio sucks, most people won't watch it for long.
@harpersnotes @akarlin88 @ramzpaul The room is a big issue in itself for audio... but I'll skip how to deal with the room for now (because it is quite involved), and mention some equipment related audio concerns.

To keep things simple, you'll probably recording your audio into your camera.

Which is good...BUT...
@harpersnotes @akarlin88 @ramzpaul BUT... you should run the audio through a Preamp to boost the audio signal while it is still analog, before it gets into the camera, and it is turned into a digital signal.
@harpersnotes @akarlin88 @ramzpaul If you get the GH5 or GH5s, get this Preamp:

Panasonic DMW-XLR1 XLR Microphone Adapter

If you get the G7, get this Preamp:

Beachtek DXA-MICRO PRO+
beachtek.com/product/dxa-mi…
.
@harpersnotes @akarlin88 @ramzpaul The microphone matters too.

You'll get better audio quality with an XLR microphone.

(XLR is a type of plug.)

(The Preamps I mentioned are both XLR.)

This is the microphone I usually use:

Gauge ECM-87 Stealth Cardioid Condenser

.
@harpersnotes @akarlin88 @ramzpaul All the camreas I mentioned (the G7, GH5, GH5s) can output "clean" HDMI output.

(That means you won't see the usual numbers, lines, etc you see on your camera screen in the HDMI output.)

That ("clean" HDMI output) is important if you want to LIVE stream.
@harpersnotes @akarlin88 @ramzpaul For the LIVE streaming, you will have to change the HDMI output into something your computer can handle.

(Most computers don't have an HDMI input plug to accept that HDMI output. And only have an HDMI output themselves.)
@harpersnotes @akarlin88 @ramzpaul So you will need a device that makes the HDMI output from your camera look like a USB camera to your computer.

What I bought years ago was:

"Magewell HDMI to USB 3.0 Dongle"

It doesn't seem to be available anymore.

@harpersnotes @akarlin88 @ramzpaul Magewell might have a new version of the device.

And other manufacturers create others too.

Ex: I think the Elgato device (to turn HDMI output, to USB camera input) is popular too:
