Strategies to beat Trump in 2020 are important, but they won’t matter if nothing is done to deter foreign nations from interfering in our elections or attempts to disenfranchise voters aren’t defeated.
Trump is underwater in terms of popularity. Polls show he’s losing ground nearly everywhere, but the lack of action regarding foreign interference means Russia will be emboldened and there’s no reason for every other country to jump in with both feet.
There’s literally no reason why foreign powers wouldn’t interfere. With Republicans green lighting Russian actions it means other powers would be at a disadvantage if they DIDN’T interfere.
If Democrats want a chance to win and, more importantly, a chance to reestablish electoral integrity, they need to start pushing for election security as a major platform initiative. It should be a bipartisan issue, but it’s just not.
