1/5 #H1B approvals dropped sharply last year, keep falling this year bayareane.ws/2K2WJj9 via @mercnews. The consequences of this are, on net, not good for the US economy or US workers. The empirical evidence is pretty compelling. Just a few examples:
2/5 American firms hire skilled workers abroad when #H1B restrictions increase, and conduct more innovation abroad than in the US:

5/5 To be balanced, here's a well-executed paper that offers evidence to contradict some of these findings: nber.org/papers/w20668. But the net effect from the preponderance of empirical studies is that the #H1B program has been positive for the US economy and for most workers.
