So now that Law twitter has found the Vic suit and we're all laughing at their reaction to it, I want to talk about something less hilarious: how for the lawyer at the heart of this, the validity of the suit doesn't even matter and he probably knew it was bogus from the start.
So let me introduce you to Nick Rekieta, sometimes derisively referred to as a "youtube lawyer", he is in fact an actual lawyer with a small case history. And he has a youtube channel, where he "lawsplains" stuff to folks.
Yes, I'm talking about Nick here, not Ty Beard, the actual lawyer filing the suit. There's a reason why I instead said that *Nick* was the person at the heart of this, which I'll get to.
Nick seems quite passionate about his youtube channel, and has produced a lot of videos. And if you look at the videos he's done, you can tell exactly what sort of audience he is cultivating.
What I also want you to look at is the view count of those videos. Most of them fail to break 10k views, and around 3k is very common.
Agh, wrong screenshot, let me fix things.
In early January, Nick posted a video about "The Quartering lawsuit". You don't need to know the details, all you need to know is the view count.
Nick follows up with more quartering stuff. While some controversy about some "Tonka" person generates good views (20k+ ) it's nothing compared to the further quartering vids, which break 100k and nearly reach 200k.

Turns out lawsuits are GREAT for generating clicks.
Also side note, notice Nick giving with Vox "acid attacks against feminists are justified and the Taliban was right to shoot Malala Yousafzai in the head" Day there. Classy fellow.
That's back in late January.

On January 30th, ANN posts their first Vic article. fast.animenewsnetwork.com/interest/2019-…
According to multiple posters on the ANN forums who were insisting that Nick is a totally unbiased, reasonable person, he initially believed the accusations against Vic, but changed his mind as he "looked into it more." I haven't been able to confirm this.
Honestly, there's only so much I'm willing to dig into Nick's old tweets and videos to see if he ever expressed the opinion Vic was guilty. But I fully believe he might have, because honestly, I think he STILL believes that, and just does not care.
On February 19th, Nick creates his gofundme, a GFM created for the sole purpose of allowing Vic to take legal action. gofundme.com/vic-kicks-back A day later Vic confirms the GFM is connected to him, and refers to Nick as a friend.
And oh boy is this good for Nick's view count. Remember, not that long, Nick would only occasionally break 10k, and 3k was pretty average.
In January, Nick had over 14k subscribers. Now he has over 60k. His channel has exploded in popularity compared to before.
He's also doubled his patreon earnings compared to the start of the year.
All in all, the Vic lawsuit has been a massive boon for Nick, and will probably continue to do so in the near future. And the best part for him, it doesn't matter if Vic wins.

After all, it's not Nick's money, and he's not even the person officially represented the case.
If/when Vic loses, he can just blame it on the courts, possibly throw Ty Beard under the bus, and do a series of videos on why the case lost. His fans will eat it up and take him at his word.
He can just move on to the next outrage generating lawsuit after that. And if one doesn't exist yet, well, he can always set up a GoFundMe to help generate one. Worked for him before after all.
And the worst part of this, this is doing real harm. The lawsuit, and the countless videos about it from Nick and others, have riled up a mob which is intent on harassing and ruining the lives of both the defendants in the suit and anyone vaguely connected to the Vic accusations.
It's possible that even if Nick had not offered to set up the GFM, that Vic would have ended up suing anyways.

But it's also possible he might not have, and thus the controversy (and the harassment mobs) would have died down much quicker.
That's why Nick is so scummy. He's not just a grifter, he's someone who's actions have likely contributed to harassment, stalking and literal death threats against many innocent people.

And he's gonna get away with it, even when Vic loses the case.
