Yesterday flying from DC to Orlando we had a treat because this beautiful anvil-shaped cloud pushed our flight path offshore. /1
/ I say it was a treat because we turned to fly inland right across the North Indian River lagoon, between New Smyrna Beach and @NASAKennedy. Look how gorgeous that is!
/ Then we crossed the St. John’s River, the lazy, north-flowing river of Florida that marks the lowland between where the ancient ocean shorelines used to be.
/ I caught a view of this landfill, a giant mound of trash that isn’t recycled because it’s cheaper to keep mining new stuff while we pile resources under thin layers of dirt. One day when energy is cleaner & cheaper we should recycle these to create a 100% green economy.
/5 We landed under the edge of another of those anvil-shaped clouds. They aren’t as gorgeous viewed from underneath but the rain makes planet Earth amazing and I love it!
