Half of all transactions are comprised of nationalised, state-monopolised, oligarch-friendly, debt-based, fractionally-backed fiat money. We don't have capitalism. We have capitalism gasping for air at any opportunity. That it catches the odd breath keeps this whole game going.
All this political angst directed at CAPITALISM™. But let's ask ourselves, does the West look more or less like the Soviet Union than it did in 1989?
Larger state size/scope? ✅
More creepy surveillance?✅
More regulations?✅
More state debt?✅
More monetary central planning?✅
More publicly funded Marxist universities? ✅
More ideological imperialism? ✅
Obscenely high taxes? ✅
Clampdowns on speech/wrongspeak? ✅
Politicisation of more of life? ✅
More mass-think? ✅

Maybe, just maybe, we're getting angrier because we're getting more socialist.
Your major tell for a society sliding deeper into socialism is the politicisation of more & more of life. The politicisation of sport, theatre, art, science, sex, health, diet, trade, learning. This is exactly where the Soviet Union and other Marxist hell-holes end up. It's ugly.
The main symptoms of the greater politicisation of life is factionalism, anger/spite, isolation/deracination, distrust. Things that are difficult to inherently politicise, tend to get ideologically undermined: family, tradition, cultural heritage, real art/beauty, epic stories.
The real battle is not between factions warring over political control of more of life, but between the politicisation and depoliticisation of life. If your favourite politician doesn't know how to depoliticise life, (s)he's just playing stupid, temporal games.
