As a race we strive forward. They are hard earned steps sometimes against a gail force wind, but we push on because that's what we do. It is a function of the desire of billions of people to move forward. 1/
It is an expression of hope in the belief that the next day can be a better day. It is that hope that keeps us alive. For without hope we are lost. It is a hope that preserves and keeps us and it a hope worth fighting for. 2/
People want a better tomorrow for themselves, for their family, for their children, for the people around them. And they know that if society is better, if it evolves, then that will be a better society to live in for them and those close to them. 3/
They also know that by striving forward, by progressing as a race, by learning, through understanding and enlightenment society will be a more harmonious place, a more peaceful place, a safer place. Where there is less anger there is more peace. 4/
We have made great strides. We have become a more understanding more tolerant society. In fact, as we progress it is less about tolerance as those issues that resulted from intolerance simply are not issues anymore. 5/
However, there are those that wish us not to progress, and they stand on the coat tails of humanity as we push forward into the storm. And it seems there are times when they do drag us backward. We see it, we feel it and we are saddened by it. 6/
And we are saddened by it because we know what it took to get here. We know the battles that have taken place, we know that sacrifices given, the hardship. We know how many have fought and died to bring us to this place. 7/
We have tried hard and we have distanced ourselves in time from conflicts, from battles based on race, gender or creed. And in that fight we have distanced ourselves from war. Whilst wars still rage at least we are further from world wars of the past. 8/
However let us not forget for one second that every time we are dragged backwards we step back towards war. We step back towards conflict, we step back towards war, and we step back towards world war. 9/
It is the few, not the many, who wish to drag us back in time. They rage at enlightenment, they rage at progress, they rage at hope, they rage at the good in humanity. Sometimes it seems they know not the consequences of their rage, even when there's blood on the streets. 10/
And I say, no more. Enough. I say to those people that want to hold us back, why should people die for you? Because that is what will happen. Those are the consequences of regression & retrenchment. Why should people suffer for you? Because they will suffer. 11/
It is time for those people to understand what we are, where we are and what we can be, and join the fight for progress and the related peace, and not hinder either. Surely that is something worth fighting for. Let us walk into the future unshackled. Together. 12/ #FBPE ✌️
