The recall petition in Brecon and Radnorshire has reached 10% . The seat has been vacated and there will be a by-election.

This is the third time the recall process has been initiated and the second time an MP has been removed by voters.
Former MP Chris Davies is eligible to stand in the by-election either as the Conservative candidate or as an independent.
10,005 people signed a petition to remove the constituency's MP, Conservative Chris Davies.

Mr Davies was convicted of a false expenses claim in March.
19% of voters in Brecon and Radnorshire votee for a recall of the MP. The threshold is 10%.
The Speaker will inform the House of the result of the recall petition when the House sits on Monday. Chris Davies is no longer an MP.
All three circumstances in which the Speaker of the House of Commons would trigger the recall process have now been met by a) Fiona Onasanya b) Ian Paisley and c) Chris Davies
The date of the by-election is a matter for the party of the recalled MP. It begins by 'moving the Writ'.
The Chief Whip of the political party whose MP held the vacant seat moves that the Speaker “do issue his Warrant to the Clerk of the Crown to make out a new Writ for the electing of a Member to serve in this present Parliament for the constituency of .... in the room of..."
IF MPs agree it becomes an Order for the Speaker. The Speaker then issues a Warrant to the Clerk of the Crown who then sends the writ to the Returning Officer.
A new Writ is usually issued within three months of the vacancy. There have been a few times when seats remained vacant longer than six months.
The by-election timetable is between 21 and 27 *working days* from the issuing of the writ. If the writ is issued on Tuesday the by-election could be held on 23rd July, more likely Thursday 25th July.
This means even if the by-election was held at the earliest possible day, it would be after the election of the new Conservative Leader had finished.
Will the Tories will delay the by-election so it is held over the summer recess, or try to win the seat while the party is in a leadership contest?
The Lib Dems - the main challengers to the Conservatives in Brecon and Radnorshire have already selected their candidate - @DoddsJane
The 1973 Speaker’s conference on electoral law recommended that the motion for a writ for a by-election should normally be moved within three months of a vacancy arising, and it is “inexpedient” for by-elections to be held in August.
