New Followers. Let me share with you my idea for reaching new Dem voters and crushing every election.

I'm calling this idea "peer to peer" politics. I live in Garland Texas and during our door to door knocking, I've taken notes on how voters get their information.

(a thread)
Garland is very similar to the working class cities around Texas (Amarillo, Midland, Lubbock, Plano).

Only 2% of the people I surveyed have Twitter.

Almost everyone has Facebook and that's a problem because their news comes from Facebook and fake news that's being shared.
Facebook is a problem because the information shared is shared within a small circle of friends and family who have the most pull within their own circles.

And to top that off, 57% of voters age 55+ watch Fox News. We're battling misinformation everywhere. And that's a problem!

I have 1 yr of immigration status left in the US. I have lived here since I was 7 yrs old and I'm 21 now. I have no feasible pathway to stay in this country permanently, let alone citizenship. Last year my father, who is the principal #visa holder, suffered a heart attack (1)
My family was terrified of losing him, our visa status, and being deported. Visa immigrants are the fastest growing population of folks becoming undocumented- why is no one talking about this? The US #Immigration system is broken on the undocumented AND documented side. (2)
Undocumented folks are blamed for entering without status when most are overstaying their visas. GC #backlog folks are blamed for “taking away” jobs even though there is a massive labor shortage in the US. Politicians pit our communities against each other and we let them (3)

Thread #log4j
"The ‘most serious’ security breach ever is unfolding right now. Here’s what you need to know."

Wondering how this affects #voting machines? Is anyone looking into that?
@rad_atl @VickerySec @kiniry @benniejsmith

via @washingtonpost
washingtonpost.com/technology/202…
“The log4j vulnerability is the most serious vulnerability I have seen in my decades-long career,” Jen Easterly, U.S. Cybersecurity and Infrastructure Security Agency director, said in a Thursday interview on CNBC.
"#Log4j is a chunk of code that helps software applications keep track of their past activities. Instead of reinventing a “logging” — or record-keeping — component each time developers build new software, they often use existing code like log4j instead. It’s free on the Internet"

Of 15 #Republican candidates for Secretary of State (the office that oversees #elections), in 5 battleground states,

10 lack confidence in the 2020 results or flat-out claim it stolen.

Only 2 of 9 interviewed acknowledged #Biden as the legitimate winner. reut.rs/3EKY6fd
In 2020, #Trump, and #GOP legislators, not only undermined trust in elections, with false claims repeatedly debunked, they told partisan state legislators to send electors for Trump in states where voters selected Biden; a blatant rejection of #democracy.
It was only laws, and honorable officials holding to those laws, that prevented the #coup from succeeding.

The GOP are not done. Those protections are only going to get weaker with time.

So heard a Texas legislator defend his #voting bill on @CNN this morning by countering “well how much fraud do you think is acceptable” even after being confronted with the study indicating that recent research has uncovered less than 20 instances of voting fraud.
So if any potential for voting fraud is a reason for Republicans to act in such an aggressive manner then I hope they will rethink their tolerances in other area?
Science has shown us that there are levels of contamination to drinking water that do not pose a threat to human health, but Republicans if zero potential for voting fraud is the goal shouldn’t that be the goal for arsenic, lead, and other heavy metals in drinking water?

If you are going to share stories, memes, thoughts on Georgia’s recently adopted voting law changes, including criticism of critics, I ask that you do a little research and you give a little thought before doing it. /1 #voting #GA #votingrights #racism
There are provisions of the Georgia law that do make permanent certain changes there that were implemented in response by COVID.  Every state should implement those elements.  /2
And if it were actually about voter ID then that issue has been fully vetted and addressed by the Courts regarding what is appropriate and constitutional. /3

When I look at the news today, the violence, as much as missing my mom today was super painful, I am glad she is in a better place, at peace. I thought of her constantly. So many things I wanted to discuss with her. But she was too good for this world. Now nothing can hurt her.
My mom and I used to often chat about the state of the world. She was both progressive and conservative. Many immigrant and South Asian women lack self compassion in order to manage the lack of support, the biases while still needing to get it all done. Mommy was a perfectionist.
In recent years we talked of racism. She was starting to recognize her internalized so-called “model minority” biases as I had needed to do myself. We talked at length on #DrSusanMoore when she read my LinkedIn repost of this 🧵 @TamorahLewisMD

Project #Alvarium in a nutshell:
Disrupt the #edge security model!

The edge remains a hostile environment for computing.
So, protecting #data in use thru a #data confidence fabric and #ConfidenceComputing is the objective of this @linuxfoundation project.

@IOTA @DellTech
How does #Alvarium work?

It implements a kind of #trust #sidecars for #data streams with trust metadata and confidence scores thus creating the data confidence fabric.

@IOTA @DellTech
Where does @IOTA and the #Tangle come into play in #Alvarium?

The #TrustSidecars (e.g., attached to #IoT devices) directly store the trust metadata in the #Tangle. Metadata consumers simply subscribe to updates on the Tangle.

1/A thread re:the appointing a new Secretary of State to replace @AlexPadilla4CA & the likely problems if @GavinNewsom selects @LorenaSGonzalez

History: I was in the Assembly when Kevin Shelley resigned & @Schwarzenegger chose Bruce McPherson to replace him
2/ Kevin resigned after people "accused Shelley of abusive behavior toward his staff."

This followed the recall of Gray Davis. Republicans were happy to topple another state constitutional officer.

A similar "domino effect" could happen w/@LorenaAD80

3/ We've seen @LorenaSGonzalez draw the ire of corporations after #AB5 -> to Prop 22

We've also seen her conduct unprecedented campaign money laundering, transferring corporate funds to her husband- @SupFletcher - when he ran for Supervisor in 2018.
