Hey, @CocaCola and @pepsi: now that @ShopFloorNAM and #ChamberofCarbon are outed as worst two climate obstructors in D.C. are you rethinking your support? Both direct and through your AmBevAssn?
Can you show me a path to climate safety that does not go through a price on carbon in Congress? Cause if not, supporting tools of fossil fuel blockade of Congress seems a little hard to justify.
When it mattered to you to protect sugary beverages from tax during ACA, AmBevAssn went into hyperdrive, lobbying records show. Will lobbying records show you care that much about climate crisis?

BTW: Isn’t there a governance obligation to understand who is funding an entity on whose board you sit? Duty to inform yourself?

Funding Mitch McConnell’s political operation; funding @FedSoc as it picks judges; funding @judicialnetwork as it campaigns for confirmations; & funding the flotilla of “amici” telling judges how to decide cases.
This all needs to be brought to light, & the Court is far too complicit in hiding it.

But here’s the good news: a utility board in California is looking at a 25-year contract for electricity at 1.997¢/kwh for solar energy and 1.3¢ for power from batteries.

As I replied to @EricHolthaus- I'm aware of and inspired by @givingwhatwecan & @GiveWell work on global health/poverty; I personally want to support climate mitigation. I realize there's no one right answer, depends on theory of change etc; curious to hear different perspectives.
Esp. in climate arena where impact could be on different possible levels (eg X tons avoided from cookstoves vs Y tons #fossil CO2 kept in the ground vs systemic political or economic change)- curious to hear diverse range of theory of change or evidence of effectiveness.

Short thread.
1. I didn't realize how badly Trump has eviscerated access to federal #climate data, so I went and looked at the USGS site.
2. In December, there were 5,932 climate science items linked there (9 were just pictures). Today there are 416 and 292 are just pictures.
3. In December 2016, 320 of those items were links to #climate data. Today, 0 links to data. 5,271 were web links. Now, 0 web links.
