Time is the enemy. The longer kids suffer in these conditions, the more likely it is they will die. If they survive, they will never get this time back. Their parents won't either. The trauma is permanent.

Every time I do an interview on this topic, I start to cry. I'm not usually someone who cries in public. I cry mainly b/c of the pain inflicted on these families. But it's also b/c of the apathy with which it's received by media and pols, punctuated by fleeting interest, like now
I wrote about this last year, and it hurts that it's been a year. You never had time for your false hopes and baseless rationalizations. Children died because of it. You debate the phrase "concentration camp" while they die. theglobeandmail.com/opinion/articl…
