So. It looks like the reason congressional candidates can't get help from anyone on shoring up their infosec is because literally any volunteer work would exceed an individual's max in-kind contribution?

I wish I had the time to deal with this right now, because we need someone to put together a standard guide for campaigns that addresses how and where to report attempted foreign interference, as well as good infosec hygiene....

Help reinstalling a clean OS, resetting phones to factory, ideally how to install and use a VM, back up hard drives, use secure cloud storage, how to monitor processes, how NOT to set up email servers and such...

I realize it's a big task, but here's the deal:

If a group of folks write it up and gives it to their friends, who distribute it to committees or campaigns, there can't be any real value assigned over what someone would pay for a 99c ebook on Amazon...

And I'd love to see somebody set up a turnkey os for campaign usage, one that can be wiped on a regular basis, etc... but of course, Microsoft wants more $ for that, and Linux scares people...

Of course, it's not as helpful as having a pro on-call, but it's a start.

And a campaign can't get in trouble for buying a book, can they?
