The Exiting the EU Select Committee has started with EUinUK. UKinEU will follow afterwards. Watch live here:
parliamentlive.tv/Event/Index/cc…
Clear evidence from the first panel about EUinUK reflecting many of the same issues as we face re reaching and then assisting vulnerable or hard to reach populations, such as accessibility, languages etc.
Funding is important. How to reach rural communities of EUinUK = how to reach rural UKinEU. We have had NO FUNDING from the UK or EU to help reach vulnerable or inaccessible populations (or anything else). Is this fair? There has been v limited funding made available for EUinUK.
Ring fencing has been brought up - good stage setting by @Pipermigration for BiE evidence to come.
Worrying now that #DeniedMyVote is eating into our time, important but we need to give our evidence.
Kuba is clearly stating that not everyone will ever be able to be reached in time to apply for settled status. People WILL fall through the gaps. It is exactly the same for UKinEU, especially with no funding to reach these individuals.
We're about to be on, take your seats Ladies & Gentlemen...
@hilarybennmp thanks us for the work we have submitted. We hope it will be made public soon so we can share with you all.
Jane and Jeremy explain that our future in the case of no deal is unknown still. We are behind the EUinUK in time and clarity.
Germany Cyprus and Romania have no legislation in place. Other countries have emergency legislation in place but based on progress of negotiations. Some countries like Spain and France have more detailed plan but relies on reciprocity.
Kalba explains that reciprocity is not just citizens' rights but linked with transport of goods.
This has clearly surprised the committee.
John explains how reciprocity works in Spanish decree, again not just based on CR's - covers transport, policing etc. as well as with treatment of ESinUK. Furthermore there is a 21 mth grace period during which a bilateral framework needs to be agreed adding more uncertainty.
Where does no deal leave us asks @hilarybennmp - 'significantly worse than a deal' 'uncertainty of our situation' 'little clarity on final permanent solution' says Jane
Would we recommend a no deal Brexit. Absolutely not says BiE (for the record).
Why are we not being heard?
Fiona states that we have been badly let down by the British government.
Host states are becoming more hard line. We are living in limbo and we are looking to our own government to provide support that has been sadly lacking. Says Fiona.
We are more and more becoming bargaining chips says Jeremy. Both sides promised citizens rights would be above that.

BiE team are stating it as it is.
Good to hear that the committee members have read our evidence.
Citizenship in other host countries is now being discussed eg Spain. Citizenship is not an option for many UKinEU.
Solid evidence giving by our team. The importance of ring fencing is being explained. 'Is the EU being unreasonable?' 'It's about political will'
