BREAKING: Judge Furman ordered the DOJ to reply to this motion by July 12.

Oral arguments scheduled for July 23. 🔽
This is the entirety of Judge Furman’s order, responding to plaintiffs’ motion to permanently enjoin a citizenship question based on DOJ’s repeated representation the matter had to be resolved by June 30.
The permanent injunction is “warranted and necessary to stop the Defendants’ shenanigans,” the @ACLU’s @dale_e_ho writes.

Epstein’s Upper East Side townhouse, the one feds want to seize and which is valued at $77 million, was owned by an LLC. His two private jets were owned by separate entities that he controlled, court papers revealed yesterday.

This is a global shadow economy story.
"The defendant has refused to answer any questions about his income or assets for the Pretrial Services report, so the scope of his wealth and his assets remains entirely concealed to the government and to the court," Epstein's prosecutor, yesterday.
Something interesting:

Epstein's indictment says his Manhattan mansion is owned by an entity called Maple, Inc.

NYC records associated with that block/lot shows a $10 sale on Dec. 2011 by one Epstein-owned company to another. You read that right.

Judge Brody just denied the @LocksLawFirm / Class Counsel Motion for Reconsideration of MAF rules in the #NFL Concussion Settlement. This is a devastating blow to retired NFL players.
Herein lies a problem, when MDL judges are given absolute authority. While the "administrative" rules absolutely alter the settlement and place the checks and balances in favor of the NFL, she finds it within her authority to do so.
This order in no way "protects" the class, and this is not an "enforcement of terms" but a re-write of terms without notice to the class or an ability to opt out as supposedly required by FRCP Rule 23 governing class action settlements.

#BREAKING: Judge Amy Berman Jackson sentences Paul Manafort to 73 months in prison.
-On count 1: 60 months, with 30 months served concurrently with EDVA sentence
-On count 2: 13 months, to run consecutively to count 1 and EDVA sentence.

He'll spend 7.5 years in federal prison.
Judge Amy Berman Jackson's sentence today amounts to an additional 3.5 years in federal prison, on top of the sentence handed down last week in EDVA, which was approx 4 years, for a total of 7.5 years in federal prison for Paul Manafort.
Paul Manafort has served 9 months already, which will be subtracted from the total he has *left* to serve. But the total time served will still amount to about 7.5 years.

There is no parole in the federal system, but he could get up to a year off sentence for good behavior.
