There is a "Practice Changing UpDate" in the Surgical Ostomy page at @UpToDate. A new recommendation against prophylactic mesh for permanent stoma which should be taken into account with caution.

We should consider that the #STOMAMESH paper discards a specific technique. The prophylactic effect of a mesh placed in the sublay position (between the rectus muscle and the posterior rectus sheath and peritoneum), which has been disproven. But...

We shall not disregard other techniques, as Sugarbaker's approach proposed by @ManuelLpezCano1 et al., which could be the procedure of choice given the low recurrence rates compared to others.
