I see Ilhan Omar being attacked in some conservative circles for not denouncing Al Qaeda. Her response was the correct one—she refused to dignify it with an answer. No American Muslim should have to spell out that they're anti-Al Qaeda. It should be the starting presumption
Our whole lives people have asked us—just because we happen to be Muslim—to condemn terrorism, terrorists, ISIS, al-Qaeda, etc. It goes on and on. This assumes a collective responsibility that should be rejected out of hand and without qualification
It's simple: No individual Muslim, Christian or Jew or anyone should feel obligated to condemn something that they had nothing to do with

Some context around this quote: of *course* “racist” means something, and its v important to name things as such; it describes the material realities/relations of the world we inhabit.

The problem i was describing here is how white ppl frame the threshold for it.
In the case of this particular incident, i was referring to Cliven Bundy, the anti-govt rancher who said, matter-of-factly, that Black people were better off as slaves but took umbrage at the suggestion that he was a racist.
What i was getting at is the notion that racism is a fundamental to life in the US, a force that exerts on everything like gravity, and yet our political class and media is comprised of people who are averse to ever making that fact plain, who treat it like a partisan accusation.

It is possible to discover God purely through the power of intellect. The philosophers of the theistic Samkhya studied the evolutive nature of prakrti but, more importantly, recognized its limitations. In this manner, they worked their way upwards towards spiritual personality.
One fatal mistake that seems to be all-pervading in the scholars' analyses of the Samkhya #philosophy is many of them seem to have succumbed to the erroneous view that the purusa (spiritual personality) is totally devoid of karma. This could also have been the view of some

Political Risk is fundamentally different than other kinds of Risks because it impacts Governments; therefore, Political Risk by its nature is Systemic Risk when it impacts the major countries of the World.
In other words, the Populism we see throughout the West is not only Political Risk, it is an example of Systemic Risk because it is Government Risk that impacts the Foundations of our Economic System.
When Central Banks decided to manipulate interest rates to set them to zero (or negative!), they were explicitly underpricing Systemic Risk, not only in theory but also explicitly because we learned Systemic Risk was a major concern during Credit Cycles, which we learned in 2008.
