DOJ told Judge Pauley on Monday that it had "effectively concluded its investigations" into who else may have committed crimes in the hush-money payments to Stormy Daniels and Karen McDougal, and whether anyone tried to obstruct that investigation.
Finally, we know who Individual-1 is.
DOJ said that the day after the Access Hollywood outtake of Trump boasting about sexual assault became public, Michael Cohen, Trump, Hope Hicks and others exchanged messages about "the need to prevent (@StormyDaniels) from going public."
In a warrant application, the FBI described an urgent effort by Cohen, Trump, Hicks and the head of the National Enquirer to keep @StormyDaniels quiet after the Access Hollywood outtakes became public.
The FBI, in warrant applications unsealed today, put President Trump pretty squarely at the center of a coverup by his former lawyer that prosecutors said violated federal campaign finance laws.
Amazing what FBI agents get trained on.
When the FBI applied for warrants to search Michael Cohen's electronics last year, agents said they were expressly looking for "evidence of communications with Donald Trump."
President Trump had previously said he didn't know about the payments to @StormyDaniels. The warrant applications unsealed today, which include records of his phone calls and text messages by his aides, show pretty clearly that he was lying.

Police picked up a disturbed man who'd just spent 12 years hospitalized for a developmental disability. The officer gave him a "courtesy ride home" (but didn't ask where he lived), dropped him off at the county line on the side of a highway at dusk, where he was hit and killed.

Prosecutors told a judge Monday that they had "effectively concluded" their investigation of efforts to silence two women who claimed to have had affairs with Trump, but did not explain their reasons for doing so. Now we have at least part of the answer.
DOJ had tied Trump pretty closely to the illegal hush-payments. It alleged that they were made at his direction. And earlier today, it revealed that the FBI knew he participated in phone calls with aides when the scheme was hatched. usatoday.com/story/news/pol…

Guys, President Trump was not an "unindicted co-conspirator" in the criminal case against his former lawyer, Michael Cohen. The Justice Department didn't charge Cohen with conspiracy, so it didn't allege that he had co-conspirators, indicted or otherwise.
What the Justice Department alleged was that Cohen committed two felony campaign finance violations (to which he pleaded guilty) "in coordination with and at the direction of" Trump.
The difference sounds semantic, but it isn't. In saying Trump directed Cohen to do something that was a crime, DOJ didn't express any views about Trump's own potential liability. When DOJ says someone is a co-conspirator, it is alleging they committed the crime of conspiracy.

more promiscuously than any other single prominent person we know of in the US, who refused to sit down and answer questions from the Special Counsel because his lawyers knew he'd perjure himself, & who still hasn't released the tax returns he said he would in the 2016 campaign.
Somehow I don't think anyone not already in the tank for him is going to believe this.

New Cohen sentencing document overnight repeats the claim that Cohen "acted on his client’s instructions" in making hush money payments to Stormy Daniels and Karen McDougal.
In new document, Michael Cohen says that Daniels/McDougal would have hurt the campaign: "Michael felt obligated to assist Client-1, on Client-1’s instruction, to attempt to prevent Woman-1 and Woman-2 from disseminating narratives that would adversely affect the Campaign."
Trump previously tweeted in May that the payments had "nothing to do with the campaign."
