5th Cir.: The Fourth Am. prohibits police from taking a person into custody then dumping them at the county line "to rid the county of vagrants."
Police picked up a disturbed man who'd just spent 12 years hospitalized for a developmental disability. The officer gave him a "courtesy ride home" (but didn't ask where he lived), dropped him off at the county line on the side of a highway at dusk, where he was hit and killed.
