So, I just gotta say: I am incredibly proud and grateful for my colleagues at @PPFA. The folks at Planned Parenthood are not only providing health care to ALL folks, esp. marginalized communities, but fighting for our rights proudly and unapologetically on a daily basis. (1/2)

Oh, and just to be abundantly clear: these are health care providers who work around the country every day to provide people with birth control, cancer screenings, abortion, and more. They can’t do that w/o policies that protect access to that same health care. Advocacy matters.

Okay, y'all... so, "The Lion King". I just saw it, and I'll admit I just wasn't impressed, but it's not because the movie is bad. Honestly, it's a gorgeous film with a great cast. But there are things that keep it from being great: things it can help and things it can't. (thread)
If you were a kid growing up in '90s, you saw "The Lion King" about a thousand times. From '94 to '97 (2nd to 5th grade), I saw it in class, alone, a few dozen times. I distinctly remember kids my age (and myself) having most of the dialogue memorized a year after it came out.
The original, even in its 2D flattened nature, is just a damn good movie. Colorful visuals, superior voice casting, fantastic music and lyrics. Fun, poignant, gorgeous.

It's also a rip-off of "Kimba the White Lion", but that's another story.

This image of me has been going around 4chan and other awful parts of the web with similar transphobic commentary. Over the past few weeks, I've had TERFS and trolls send it to me and even some friendly folks who want me to be aware it exists? So, I want to be clear... (thread)
I realize this is an effort to shame my general appearance and invalidate my humanity. And I know this may come as a shock to many of you, but... I really love the way I look. I am genuinely confident in my own skin since coming out of the closet. I think I'm quite gorgeous.
And I know that the vast majority of folks probably don't find me particularly attractive. I guess that should bother me, but I'm at peace with it. I think back to when I was in the closet and presenting as a conventionally-attractive male and how consistently miserable I was.

Planned Parenthood wants you to think it only kills babies occasionally.

It has claimed that abortion makes up just 3% of the services it provides, as if snuffing out the lives of unborn children sporadically somehow makes it more excusable morally.

For years, it has guarded the 3% figure & a complicit press has reprinted it uncritically. #CecileRichards repeated it during congressional testimony. Journalists at CNN, Politico & NYT publish it w/out qualification. It's repeated so often, it has become an ironclad lie.
Unraveling the truth would be a disaster for Planned Parenthood. Congress might not write it as many taxpayer checks if the public learned that the largest abortion provider does, in fact, make its money by performing abortions — 328,348 abortions a year.

Here are some quick facts on what Planned Parenthood — which will receive half a billion dollars from the omnibus bill our Republican Congress just passed —was up to last year.
Planned Parenthood clinics performed 321,384 abortions last year. That's over one-third of all abortions in the U.S. annually.
Abortion is not "just three percent" of what Planned Parenthood does. The group fabricates that statistic by conflating the number of clients with number of "services" to downplay the group's provision of abortion.
