While looking at the @washingtonpost opiod sales database, I looked at the county I grew up in and surrounding counties and may have discovered something #NativeAmerican activists (someone with a subscription) might want to look into. They were, I think, underprescribed pain meds
So opioid Rx were pretty low in northern Minnesota in the first place, around 25 or so per person. But look at Red Lake -- 6 per person per year
Nothing close to the surrounding counties. Even Mahnomen Cty, which is reservation and white is low at 19. Meanwhile Portland is 53
When researching health care disparities, it was common to find doctors, even in ER only giving African American patients aspirin or tylenol, even for broken bones. Perhaps this disparity is directd toward NDNs as well
Unfortunately, the data is by county and reservations do not neatly fit into counties.
