There's a lot that @TuckerCarlson says that is deeply problematic, but his understanding of Elizabeth Warren's book The Two Income Trap and the relationship of economic risk to American culture and family is a critical insight.
@TuckerCarlson Progressives should recognize there is a real debate on the right about social and political assumptions, probably for the first time in four decades. They noticed the financial crisis and the war in Iraq. There's a conservative rebellion against corporate power.
@TuckerCarlson I get the sensitivity, but it's not about reaching across the aisle. It's a recognition that how internal Republican Party debates play out is a meaningful determinant of policy that affects all of us. It's important to understand their arguments.
@TuckerCarlson Suggesting I be skeptical implies support for this agenda. I don't support the conservative agenda, even the anti-corporate power conservative agenda (which isn't Trump's). But I pay attention to the debate because it matters.
@TuckerCarlson Look, @ewarren's book The Two Income Trap is the foundation for her Presidential candidacy and a good portion of the debate on the Democratic side of the aisle. How many Democratic leaders have read it? I suspect very few. Tucker did read it and he's talking about it.
@TuckerCarlson @ewarren They aren't liberal, they aren't going to support our policy architecture. This isn't about praising Tucker or Hawley, it's about listening to how they are thinking about dealing with corporate power. It isn't how we'd deal with it.
@TuckerCarlson @ewarren We're nearing a real Constitutional moment. There are rebellions in every sector of our intellectual discourse. The China policy world, the business world, the GOP, the conservative movement, Dems, liberals, academia, national security.
@TuckerCarlson @ewarren Those of you who are absolutely livid that I would take @TuckerCarlson or @HawleyMO seriously have a really good point. Conservatives have been cynical for decades, so they have a lot to prove. And Trump is a nihilist these men validate every day. Distrust is 100% reasonable.
@TuckerCarlson @ewarren @HawleyMO But the Democrats are just as cynical and worth distrusting. Republicans validate Trump's racism and refuse to acknowledge climate change. Democrats validate Obama and Clinton's naked greed and closeness to Wall Street and big tech.
@TuckerCarlson @ewarren @HawleyMO From 1993-2001 and 2009-2017 Democrats leaders sold us out. Organized labor got nothing. Race relations got worse. Wall Street and inequality skyrocketed. Chinese autocracy advanced. True for 1981-1993 and 2001-2009 as well, but under the GOP.
@TuckerCarlson @ewarren @HawleyMO I keep going back to @JulianCastro literally not knowing that private equity destroys large numbers of lives. How can Democrats tolerate someone like that on stage? That's just monstrous to not even know how such cruelty operates. And yet Dems don't even notice.
@TuckerCarlson @ewarren @HawleyMO @JulianCastro In other words, a lot of the anger at listening to Tucker is coming from liberals angry that I don't respect their favorite cruel wealthy liar.
