I've been a developer for 5 months now, and you know what the most frustrating aspect of my job is? That aspect that has caused me more worry and embarrassment than anything else? Made me groan over and over? 😫

Answer: Commits showing up in my PRs that I have NO earthly idea how they got in there!!! 😤

This aggravating occurrence has led to wasted effort, re-cutting of dev and staging branches, git resets, stashes, cherry-picking, you name it!

If you had asked me, right after I'd graduated bootcamp, "What about being a software engineer makes you the most nervous?"

I'd have answered:
1. Learning my company's codebase
2. Having my code publicly reviewed (read: gutted) by seniors

Now and then I look at prestige TV shows that people claim are "visually stunning" by watching & deconstructing a simple scene that represents something like a dramatic median. Thought I'd share the process this time. Today: a scene from the latest GAME OF THRONES ep. Thread.
A big up-front caveat: I haven't seen the series outside a few scattered episodes (not feeling "invested" is part of the point of the exercise). The big downside, obviously, is that I'm missing a lot of context. So I wanna be clear about that up front.
As a result, I try hard to avoid broad dramatic judgments, and to just see how the visuals are functioning: how do these visuals build a sense of the dramatic environment and the emotional rhythms of the scene, and, of course, how good do they look.

1/ Any doubters out there that don't think Bill Barr isn't up to the job if AG? If so you're a fool.
2/ Bill Barr is taking a load of lame questions, and actually giving them answers they are asking for, yet they are so focused on reading their prepared narrative, they aren't listening to the answers they are being given. These house members are idiots.
3/ What seems to be fully overlooked is all the left keeps referring to "reports" which is actually stories in the NYT and WaPo, but they failed to hear what Bill Barr said to their face.

It’s taken me a lot of courage to come out about this, both in person and online, I’ve made myself sick with anxiety over this for months now. But I know what I need to be right with myself and I don’t want to keep it a secret anymore.
This is something I have taken almost 6 years now since coming out to really make sure it’s something I need, I have done all I can to relieve dysphoria on my own to see if that was enough. I didn’t want to make a hasty decision, I wanted to make sure I thought it through enough.

I've been thinking -- as you may have suffered through -- about carrying capacities and overshoot and population corrections.

I think our common error lies in thinking of the planet as our environment. It's not. Not if you're reading this.
We live in an insanely complex technological civilisation. That is our true environment, as modern humans.

That civilisation, in turn, exists in a financial and logistical environment (let's call it FALE!) that is entirely artificial.
This FALE is not tangible, like the Earth is. It's entirely virtual. It has developed over about six hundred years, increasing in complexity constantly.

Much like our population has.

Over those 600 years, unimaginably vast amounts of resources have been poured into creating it.

Couple weeks ago before the Drake concert, one of my buddies @SpenceyyB made this claim and I - probably like you - disregarded it at first.
He referenced verses like these from Scorpion. I already knew the disses were aimed at Kanye, but he claimed every girl line was about Kim. “Your wifey” felt too generic at first, and I figured Drake was referring to any man that leaves his girl long enough/for good.
