"I'm struggling to understand <topic>.
No matter how much I try, I can't get it"

As I've been getting to know the #Pythonverse on Twitter better in recent weeks, I've seen this common theme recur often from beginners

If this is you, read on…

#Python #codenewbie #coding
It's not just you.

This is the norm, not the exception

There are a number of reasons why this happens.

Here are some of them…
〰️
You may be learning a topic a bit too early.

Some topics need a good understanding of other concepts before you can fully grasp them.

#ObjectOrientedProgramming is one such area. Many beginners try to learn this topic before they've fully mastered the basics…

What frustrates you most when learning to code from books, tutorials, or video courses?

I’ll start… 🧵🪡

#coding #python #learntocode #100daysofcode
1. The instructor cannot understand what a beginner knows and doesn’t know, and assume some things are basic when they’re not for a beginner.
2. “It clearly follows that…”
When following a tutorial, key steps are skipped which are not trivial for a beginner.

Who's Monty & what's a White Room got to do with *truly* understanding concepts in #Python #coding?

What’s more challenging in the early days when you learn coding is to join the dots between various topics you learn, viewing them as a coherent set of tools

🧵🪡
#100daysofcode Image
Here's The White Room analogy in brief:

I call the computer program Monty.

Monty is the one who’s busy doing things, performing all the actions required in your computer program.
But Monty/the computer program needs some infrastructure to be able to operate.

This infrastructure is the White Room: an empty room with white walls and white ceilings–a blank canvas.

Okay guys let's go....

1. It takes time and practice to grab this tech thing especially coding, be patient and committed.

2. When the frustration pile up due to errors, take your mind of it and go do something else- walk, small talks etc. Go let out steam!

3. There are two group of people,
a. Those made by institutions they pass through, they capitalize on the name of these institutions to establish their value, e.g I went to Harvard, I worked as Analyst at Chase Bank etc... 👇
#CodeNewbies
4.
b. The second group of individuals who make the institutions they passed/pass through. They define the value of these institutions and proceed to building it. A typical example here in Nigeria is Afikpo Chic and how she got elected via a party with no records...

What are the Conditional Statements in #JavaScript?

Thread🧵
🟡What is a Conditional Statement?

Very often when you write code, you want to perform different actions for different decisions.

Conditional statements control behavior in JavaScript and determine whether or not pieces of code can run.
🟡We use "if" to specify a block of code to be executed, if a specified condition is true.

🟡We use "else" to specify a block of code to be executed, if the same condition is false

🟡We use "else if" to specify a new condition to test, if the first condition is false.

Why Kubernetes ♾

Why Companies are shifting towards Kubernetes ☸️🧑🏻‍🍳

Case Study🧵👇
Problem (part-1)🚀
The Docker adoption has grown exponentially so it's important to use a container orchestration platform to scale and manage your containers.
Part-2 🚀
Imagine a situation where there are no orchestration tools. You have used docker and deployed it on few servers. Your application starts getting massive traffic. You need to scale up.
How will you know which container should go where , what if a container fails?

🧵The job market for junior devs is not great these days (to put it mildly), so here are a few tips from recruiters, hiring managers, and my own experience about how to get your first job as a developer:
#CodeNewbie #DEVCommunity Image
1. Check multiple job boards, not only LinkedIn - junior positions are easier to fill, so there's no need for companies to advertise them everywhere, they'll get a lot of candidates anyway
2. Check out careers page of larger companies around you, and sign up for updates if they have such option. Careers page is where the job offers appear first, so be the first one to know about them

3 weeks in my new job as a junior frontend developer🥳

What I didn't expect:

(a short thread)🧵

#WomanWhoCode #CodeNewbie
🔹It was really worth it to learn the fundamentals (HTML, CSS, vanilla-js) first, as I was told so often.

🔹Watching someone programming for hours is more exhausting than programming by myself, but it's worth it.
🔹My (although limited) experience with ASP.net helps me a lot to get used to Vue, despite the fact that 99% of the job offers required experience in at least one JS framework.

🔹 I can already do more than I thought.

10 Best practices in MySQL 🔥 🔥 🔥

Follow these best practices to make your queries faster and efficient

Note: Please research more about each topic before applying

Thread 🧵
#mysql #CodeNewbie
🦋 1. Add Index key columns 🔥 🔥 🔥

🔸 Always index columns that you plan on searching on
🔸 Index the columns which are used in JOIN clauses so that the query returns the result fast
🔸 Do not use Index for many column, it will slow the Insert or Update
🦋 2. LIMIT 1 When Getting a Unique Row 🔥 🔥 🔥

🔸Adding LIMIT 1 to your query can increase performance
🔸Reduces execution time because the database engine will stop scanning for records after it finds the first match

1️⃣ Check this code below 👇

Numbers as string can subtract , multiply , divide other Numbers and numbers as string (except Addition ) and return an integer value. Don't worry , it's a bug of JavaScript !! Image
2️⃣ How 010 = 8 ?

It happens in JavaScript because every number containing a "0" in front of it is referred as an octal number . And as octal 10 = decimal 8 that's why it will return 8 !! Image

Understanding Programming Errors

As a programmer, encountering errors is inevitable. Most programmers would be confused if they wrote code on the first try and it worked with no errors 😂. Let's talk about it

A thread🧵👇

#DEVCommunity #100DaysOfCode #javascript #CodeNewbie. Image
1. Syntax Errors.
These are errors that happen when you write something in the wrong way in your code. eg misspelling a keyword/function name or missing a "{}" or ";" where they are required.
This kind of error gets the compiler confused and unable to translate your code into machine code. Hence, code with syntax errors can not be executed. Image
