The Bay Area has made me feel the reality of inequality in a way that no other place ever has. It's dystopian. It's Victorian. It's a class society right out of a young adult novel.
The only places I've ever seen that had similar juxtapositions of abject poverty and glittering wealth were Thailand and China.
It's almost enough to make me become a communist, but...how would that help? Half of everyone here is already a communist, and it hasn't helped.
