Dad's 1957 Ford Fairlane 500 convertible with F code supercharged 312 Y-block. I will have one someday
Unfortunately the car was totaled when Mom drove it into a bridge abutment, an accident in which 15-month old Toddler Dave sustained a skull fracture and 15 stitches. I don't remember it, but it would prove to be the first of my many, many head injuries

Hello, everyone.

I apologize for my silence this past week. I have begun the next step on my journey to change for the better; to finally become a good person.
I've returned to seeing my therapist and will continue to on a more-prominent basis than ever. I will be looking into anger management as a separate mental health service. I have also, for the first time, been diagnosed by a psychiatrist and am currently taking medication.
These are just a few of the actions I’m taking in order to instill these changes into myself. All of these things are merely parts of my ultimate goal to achieve real, noticeable self-improvement.

More testimony coming this morning from Victor Vazquez, a DEA agent who captured Chapo in 2014.

We saw this footage during Vazquez's testimony yesterday.

It shows Mexican marines and DEA agents on Black Hawk helicopters flying over Sinaloa toward a ranch owned by El Mayo, who was the target of an unsuccessful capture operation 11 days before they got Chapo.
Vazquez also narrated this footage. It shows Mexican marines and DEA agents raiding El Mayo's ranch on the outskirts of Culiacán on Feb. 13, 2014.

Mayo was gone by the time they arrived. They arrested two of his associates, which Vazquez said led to a large weapons seizure.

Jordan Peterson’s pronouncements on the nature of social inequality ARE demonstrably untrue. Inequality is NOT an endemic condition and burial goods are NOT proof of it.

Let’s unwrap this with.... evidence! 1/
FIRST, people being buried with goods is definitely NOT limited, by any measure. It’s widespread across time and space, stretching back to the very beginning of humans (maybe even before!). When you pan across all our ancestors (not just European ones), it’s wildly common. 2/
While the *quantity and content* of burial goods changes across different socioeconomic systems and over time,

💀🎁 burying your folk with stuff is a humanly thing to do.

but also,

💀 so is not burying your people with stuff!

People are hard to pin down like that. 3/

The more I see and observe of #SAFe in different orgs and different contexts, the more I find that I strongly disagree with.
It's not just the poor choice of language and metaphors (Trains??)
It's not just the bastardisation of CoD or WSJF.
It's not just the rigid, enforced structure.
It's not just the rigid, enforced process.
It's not just the unbelievably stupid "normalised storypoints"...
It's not even all the things that are missing or largely buried – that you should really focus on if you truly need to "scale".

Having finished The Authoritarians, it's time to start a new thread of #IanLivetweetsHisResearch. Today I am finally getting past the introduction of How Propaganda Works by Jason Stanley.
Having slogged through some proper academic writing in my day, Stanley's writing is blessedly accessible. But after Altemeyer's light tone and constant dad jokes, Stanley's reads as pretty dry.
So far the introduction is full of a lot of quotations about the nature of democracy, from Victor Klemperer to Elizabeth Anderson to Plato. OF COURSE Plato.
