@kathleenparker This is an incredibly irresponsible thing to tweet, and I’ll explain why.
@kathleenparker One, Ms. Parker, you seem desperate to avoid the obvious. What Bakari is talking about has already been investigated, ad nauseous. You are looking for a correlation behind the whiteness of the shooters that has nothing to do with racism for a reason that only you can explain.
@kathleenparker Two, you infer that Bakari’s question is racist. What is wrong with you? He isn’t branding every white person with the stain of nationalism and terrorism. He is asking us to take seriously a national security crisis that has gone ignored for too long. And that is your response?
@kathleenparker Three, you imply that Bakari’s suggestion is inherently laughable. We’ve left the discussion of white nationalism and domestic terrorism by white men—problems that even the FBI director recently called out—to the comedians. We are here. You want to keep going with that strategy?
@kathleenparker At the very least, @kathleenparker, you owe @Bakari_Sellers an apology. But as a reader, I’d ask that you take this crisis a bit more seriously. The veneer of intellectual honesty and respectability that comes with your job title is about as thin as the crust on a creme brûlée.
@kathleenparker @Bakari_Sellers (Earlier note: “ad nauseum,” not “ad nauseous.” I was going too fast and didn’t account for autocorrect.)
