“Whose policies have focused on the minority community” is one way of putting it, yes.
“Sunday news show,” once a public service, has largely become a misnomer. These programs have largely become a bin for recycling the same punditry and personalities, no matter whether they are intellectually dishonest and uniformed. They are not meeting the challenge of the time.
There’s no journalistic purpose to having a “Trump defender” on your news program if that person is going to be intellectually dishonest. As this can be presumed these days, if that person goes unchallenged, you’ve done a disservice to your audience. But why bring them on at all?
Take a statement from a Trump source that doesn’t occupy the kind of airtime that a Schlapp would. You will have covered your bases journalistically, and you haven’t devalued your audience. These ”Sunday news shows” could do they yet they insist upon sensationalism over nuance.
I speak from the experience of having worked for years producing a weekend morning news show. We didn’t always get it right, but we certainly knew not to let guests defending white nationalism to go unquestioned. It isn’t that difficult.
I’m of two minds on Stephen Miller’s appearance on Fox News Sunday this morning. Yes, Chris Wallace challenged him and Miller looked liked a fascist clown. But we live in an America where millions not only love watching fascist clowns, but voting for them. rol.st/32FlmZ5
