US District Court Judge Reggie Walton just heard an hour of arguments in a FOIA lawsuit in DC brought by EPIC and Buzzfeed seeking access to the unredacted Mueller report. The judge, a George W. Bush appointee, sounded skeptical of DOJ’s defenses. We are in a recess now.
The plaintiffs want the judge to conduct an in-camera review of the full Mueller report to see if it lines up with the different FOIA exemptions DOJ has cited.
After 2+ hours, Judge Walton ends the hearing without a decision. “I’ll try to get this done as quickly as I can so we have matter resolved one way or another.” Story recapping the arguments TK.
