One of the best things about not being a reporter on days like this is that I can just say that it embarrasses me to have a president like @realDonaldTrump, who is throwing completely unvetted conspiracies theories out into the world — including to his subordinates.
Imagine running an investigation into Epstein’s death right now. It’s appallingly irresponsible for the president to retweet such things ever, but particularly so when the matter is the subject of two different federal investigations (as of now).
Step back here. The president, at the end of the day, is publicly deflecting blame from his administration’s failure to keep alive a high-profile indicted individual in federal custody by promoting a conspiracy theory blaming ... his 2016 political opponent’s family.
(Honestly, that makes it less surprising because that’s obviously what Trump would do in that situation, and anyone who’s spent any real time following Trump’s antics knows it.)
