August 5th marked five years since a cop killed John Crawford III. He was just holding a BB gun inside a Walmart. This guy wore body armor and carried a loaded rifle and handgun into a Walmart, days after El Paso. His “test” of his rights was successful. apne.ws/ypNh8MH
I don’t hope for the kind of “equality” that see suspects of all races, white terrorists and black shoppers minding their business, killed equally and at the same rates. But it is an indication of who not only has certain rights in America, but gets to survive certain scenarios.
It is impossible to see these mass shootings and their aftermath, as well as the widespread gun culture in America, as disconnected to the disproportionate police brutality and violence that African Americans and other people of color suffer in this country.
