Olodumare (Orisa Oke), the supreme being in the Yoruba pantheon of gods makes more sense and is more inclusive than Abrahamic gods like Yahweh and Allah.
I would like to reiterate my stance, I do not believe in divinity of any kind but I appreciate great myths, especially when these myths and religions have a relatively peaceful undertone and are more realistic, non sadistic and certainly not monotheistic.
To me, our ancestors having the cognitive initiative to put together a bigger than life and a far more pious and inclusive, yet underrated mythology signals our mental superiority at some point in history, colonization and slavery must have...
...fractured the trajectory of our development but hey, what has happened has happened.
We have been sold these Abrahamic lies so much that we forgot our own far “superior lies” so you guys might as well stay hooked on these imported religions for all i care.
Now back on topic, Olodumare (orisa oke) is the supreme being in Yoruba religion. He is a being/force that has existed before the beginning of time as it is and has existed in heaven with other gods that he had created.
He was not created by anyone but he creates, his might is limitless and not bound by space, obviously. He created the whole universe and he is responsible for the keeping the universe together with all his natural laws.
Olodumare had existed with the gods in heaven until he wanted to get creative with the planet earth, a planet occupied by water at the time. He chose to send Orunmila, one of the senior Orishas, escorted by a band of other gods to bring life to earth.
Orunmila is known as Eleri Ipin (the witness of destiny/creation), so named because when Olodumare got clay matter and invoked life into it, It was done in secrecy with Orunmila, making Orunmila the only witness of the process.
When the the Orishas reached earth, they were suspended in the air and they spread the life giving clay matter that Olodumare had given them along with other things.
They spread this clay on the water and for some magical reasons it kept spreading all over the earth...
The spot that landed is known as Ile ife, meaning (the expanding land).
One could argue that Olodumare appears to be more superior, more inclusive and way more complex, less vindictive and less petty than his Abrahamic counterpart for many reasons. In fact he has a higher authority to claim ownership of the world,in my view.
Olodumare has never honored the planet earth with his presence unlike Yahweh and Allah, this would give you the impression of his unfathomable might, this could also mean that he has a vast universe to handle and it would be low to focus on...
...earth, instead he has appointed other Orishas to oversee the administration of earth.
The creator of the universe in the Bible and Quran centrally positioned earth, thanks to modern cosmology we now know that these estimates and impressions are ridiculous.
Olodumare does not get worshipped directly, there is no Olodumare shrine, he is the supreme being, he has a vast universe to oversee, and let me just say it straight, you humans are too small to even address him, talk to the small Orishas abeg.
Olodumare does not get jealous when you worship or pay tributes to Ogun, he created Ogun and Sango and Obatala, so he can’t get jealous when humans worship them, he is not that petty, unlike Yahweh and Allah.
Since Olodumare does not demand your worship, he does not judge people based on loyalty or belief in him, he judges people on good character (Iwa Pele). He only cares about your heart and hey, he doesn’t reward you directly...
Olodumare has put in place natural laws to make sure you are rewarded for your deeds.
And guess what, Olodumare is so powerful that he judges the other Orishas themselves. So Sango and Obatala and...
...Ogun don’t only answer to Olodumare, they also get judged by him too, see how awesome he is ?
Olodumare is impartial, he is inclusive, he does not condone racism or tribalism, he is the supreme being of the Yorubas, but nothing in the odu ifa signifies that he rates the Yorubas as favorites.
We are all his creation, he does not take sides with/against anyone in the case of a war or a conflict, the lesser Orishas handle that and should the lesser Orishas get partial, Olodumare himself would judge the Orishas.
And then Olodumare is hypothetically right about the origin of humanity, Yoruba mythology states unequivocally that our species emigrated from Africa to everywhere on earth, this is a correct statement according to evolutionary biology.
Yahweh and Allah are both saying humans originated from the Middle east, c’mon, that is embarrassing, guys.
Anyway, all these religions are all mythical but I like this Olodumare myth, you guys should look into the myths.
Spot that they landed on*
