I see Frances Barber is getting a fair amount of attention on my timeline. In the spirit of informing the public, here's a quick reminder of her exemplary, in no completely unhinged track record.

2. Frances turns political commentator. And hateful racist.
I asked Frances about this some months ago. She insisted it was all a load of nonsense... which rather begs the question: why is this article about it still up, Frances? You wouldn't have lied to me, would you? Surely not? heraldscotland.com/news/13213183.…
3. Frances isn't just racist about Scottish people. She's racist towards Muslims too. Here she is being disgustingly racist towards one of my closest friends, who I've known for almost 20 years. Unconscionable.
4. Here's a typically delusional, self-important tweet from her. Which reads awfully close to a threat?
She likes threatening others, does Frances. She's a bully. An inept one, I might add; she's the most incompetent bully I've ever seen on here. And she'll be loving the attention of this thread. But y'know the drill folks: block, ignore, and move on.

We got here because of austerity. At least 130,000 people - and probably far more - dead because of the Tories: condemned not once, but twice, by the United Nations itself.
At least 320,000 people - and probably far more - homeless, because of the Tories

More than 17,000 disabled people have died while waiting for their PIP claim appeal. 72% of those turned down for PIP win on appeal. They were turned down because of wanton, disgusting Tory cruelty
Average wages, quite unbelievably, STILL below where they were in 2008. Millions and millions without a pay rise in over a decade.

Low paid, deeply insecure work in appalling conditions - with people who work just ONE HOUR A WEEK counted as employed. Zero hour contracts too.

Now then, Grenfell. And this report. Which is already provoking absolute fury and disgust amongst my followers, for completely understandable reasons.

This horrific tragedy had multiple causes.
1. Austerity. The fire services, like all the emergency services, have been disgracefully under-resourced by the Tories and by the coalition. As a result, a good deal of their equipment on the night did not work properly.
It never ceases to amaze me how many people just cannot make the link between making cuts, huge ones, and endangering lives. That's what happened here.

As Uruguay moves rightwards, crisis-ravaged Argentina heads back to the left. Macri is out - despite, quite remarkably, having more than halved his deficit in support over the last two and a half months. And Cristina, albeit not quite in the conventional sense, is back.
She'll be Vice President, supporting someone who practically screams 'puppet' in everything he says. Alberto Fernandez (no relation to Cristina) is essentially President by accident. Few saw this coming a few months ago.
Will it work? Stupid question: nothing ever works in Argentinian politics. That's the great tragedy here. But the situation is so awful there that something had to give; the last 4 years have been such a disaster that it's remarkable Macri still got more than 40% of the vote.

So @BlackFreelance1 has this *really good* thread on assessing the realities of freelancing, about examining "passion" for your work vs. the actual income it brings in.

Black women, in particular, have to be very careful to not have our work exploited in the name of "passion."
I'm an illustrator and I learned this lesson the hard way. (More on that below.) I've since pivoted my work to focus on markets where a) I have a lot of ability and education to draw on; b) I'll enjoy the client process, and c) I'll be paid well.
Illustration requires that an artist make art *first* and develop a portfolio so that potential clients can see what you can do. My original body of work got a fair amount of attention on social media.

My early mistake was assuming that social media popularity = income.
