Right then - so here we are. Shall I remind you of how we got here?

We got here because of austerity. At least 130,000 people - and probably far more - dead because of the Tories: condemned not once, but twice, by the United Nations itself.

At least 320,000 people - and probably far more - homeless, because of the Tories

More than 17,000 disabled people have died while waiting for their PIP claim appeal. 72% of those turned down for PIP win on appeal. They were turned down because of wanton, disgusting Tory cruelty

Average wages, quite unbelievably, STILL below where they were in 2008. Millions and millions without a pay rise in over a decade.

Low paid, deeply insecure work in appalling conditions - with people who work just ONE HOUR A WEEK counted as employed. Zero hour contracts too.

Students saddled in impossible levels of debt before heading out into a working world which treats them worse and offers them far less than those who came before them.

Young and middle aged people unable to get on the housing ladder. Disgusting rent prices and housing conditions

A system which has failed so totally, so absolutely, that in 2016, fully 52% of the electorate issued a cry for help heard around the world. No-one had listened to them in decades. They'd been stigmatised, ignored, abandoned and left to rot. But they were lied to.

Lied to by a party which has laid waste to the UK since 2010. Lied to by a group of right wing neanderthals who couldn't give a damn whether the poor live or die; only that they have the chance to feather their nests ever more, at everyone else's expense.

We've seen the hideous consequences of those lies ever since. The country more divided than ever. Split in two, and suffering horribly.

The truth is, the Conservative Party doesn't conserve anything. It destroys everything it touches. Including, increasingly, the Union itself.

So now, we face the ultimate choice. This really IS the most important election in generations; this really WILL define what kind of country the UK will be for decades to come.

Dear British people: what is to be? A nasty, narrow-minded, migrant-hating, Muslim-hating, NHS-destroying, No Deal-embracing, I'm alright Jack, stuff everyone else Britain?

Or an open, inclusive, compassionate country, which treats all its people with respect, dignity, and hope?

There is a party which can provide that. There is a government in waiting which can give us that. Which can get a genuinely good Brexit deal, then put it to the vote, ending the nightmarish paralysis of the last 3 years. Which can invest in our schools, hospitals, infrastructure.

Which can deal not just with Brexit, but with the CAUSES of Brexit. Which can reach out and bring back in all those ignored so unconscionably for so long.

Which has, too, all sorts of brilliant ideas for the future: in which automation's coming, and a Green New Deal is needed.

It's a party which will give young people hope, old people real dignity. A party which can end the inter-generational and cultural conflict ravaging the UK, and start healing it. Only Labour have the answers for the next decade; the Tories have none at all.

This is a broken system. A bust system. A zombie system.

So let's change it, let's transform it, and let's start giving our kids, grandkids, friends, loved ones and whole communities the kind of country they deserve and can feel proud and happy to be part of.

Life doesn't have to be about suffering, pain, misery. It can be about everyone having the chance to fulfil their potential. If we all get together, if we work harder than ever, we can win this election. And then change - real change, transformative change - can come.
