It's kind of really neat to see how systems theory is getting renewed attention, but just as a caveat, we shouldn't make the same mistakes that killed the original systems movement(s). Describing complex systems in complex terms tends to be counterproductive.
For the fans of entropy approaches to economics, I recommend the forgotten classic by Nicholas Georgescu-Roegen.

A couple of points I made a few time lately re "strategic outlook of ledger systems", neatly summarized in bullet points.

1⃣ Ledgers will take over the value creation that happens between enterprises, the rest will safely stay behind the "enterprise perimeter".
2⃣ Hard to give an estimate over the near-term split between the two (I know everyone wants that), but it will gradually shift towards "between" over a possibly long time horizon. Simply because the reasons why enterprises keep processes in-house will erode.
3⃣ The main value driver is increased integrity of multi-stage value chains, not the much-hoped-for disintermediation or decentralization.

4⃣ And yes, no system will ever be adopted unless it increases efficiency at scale.

Some simple intuition how Non-Euclidean choice spaces work and how they affect our everyday lives, from the arenas where we have good data: politics and entertainment (music and movies).
In politics we know that most everything aligns on a single dimension, the "policy line" from left to right, progressive to conservative, with a second(ary) dimension (I call it establishment vs outsider) emerging in times of political realignment. Viz: Brexit.
The typical political economy model assumes a single dimension, left-to-right as [–1, +1], and single-peaked preferences. You have your ideological ideal point and are indifferent between equidistant shifts to the left or the right.

This model works out quite well empirically.

Anecdote time. I didn't become an Oakland A's fan because of "moneyball" (which didn't exist yet). I started going to games when they offered dollar-bleachers, dollar-dog tickets to fill seats at the Coliseum at a time when the new SF Giants ballpark across the Bay was humming.
By sheer luck, my first game in 2000 was a comeback win against the division-leading Mariners, after which the A's went on a tear to take the AL West for the first time in seemingly forever. Needless to say, I was hooked.
I quickly joined the fan forums where the traditional A's fans were fighting a rearguard action against the encroaching quant types, emboldened by Billy Beane's embrace of "statistical analysis" for player selection.

Sha: grew up in India in an environment with basically zero privacy for anything. Wound up doing research in privacy, which was a bit of a shock. So many different cultures, backgrounds, ethics, responsibilities.

Really is quite impactful, if you're originally from Latin America, to see people here on left and right treat it's politics like they're supporting their football team.
Not a fucking care in the world for the fact people have been murdered, thrown into destitution, forced from their homes. Just inconvenient facts getting in the way of their bullshit debate.
The British right did it with Pinochet. Excusing his sadism, his torture, his executions. And now the left do it with Maduro. Latino lives are just pawns to them.
