Dan's argument is in effect that if there is a majority in Parliament for a ninety day extension there must also be a majority in Parliament for a ninety year extension. That's palpable nonsense.
But ultimately the point is this. Parliamentary sovereignty is our constitutional Ground Zero. The EU Referendum Act 2015 in enacting an advisory referendum left to Parliament the choice of what to do with the result. 1/2
This Bill leaves the choice of whether to accept an extension with Parliament. That is both constitutionally appropriate - why should the Charlatan with his mandate from the members of Surrey Golf Club get to decide - and is also consistent with the 2015 Act. 2/2
On the plus side, the fact that Cummings' Social Media Orcs are pushing this truly terrible line is a pretty good indication that @hilarybennmp has done a good job on the drafting. Certainly it looks that way to me.
